Statement from the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party
The Vanderburgh County GOP’s latest press release is nothing more than a partisan attempt to distract voters from the real issues facing Evansville families — good jobs, safe neighborhoods, strong schools, and affordable healthcare.
Representative Alex Burton has already addressed and corrected a clerical reporting issue, as all campaigns occasionally face when navigating Indiana’s complex campaign finance system. To suggest otherwise is disingenuous and meant to mislead the public.
It’s important to note that ActBlue is a nationally recognized, secure, and fully transparent fundraising platform used by millions of Americans and thousands of Democratic candidates across the country. Every contribution processed through ActBlue is fully reported, traceable, and compliant with campaign finance law. To characterize ActBlue as anything other than a credible third-party platform is not only misleading, but a disservice to voters who value transparency in fundraising.
The Democratic Party remains focused on what truly matters:
Building an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
Ensuring our children have access to quality public education.
Supporting working families with affordable healthcare and childcare.
Standing up for integrity, fairness, and opportunity in our elections and our communities.
Representative Burton shared the following statement:
“Over the past year, I’ve done a lot of great and much needed work in our community and at the Statehouse. Further, in the upcoming session, there are a lot of policy and legislative actions that I’m excited to champion and work across the aisle to accomplish starting on day one. Simply put, this is a sad and hyperbolic attempt to distract the community from what we’re facing at this moment.
My advocacy for what matters most to us continues. Necessary measures have already been put in place to ensure that all oversights are corrected. To ensure accounting processes are on time, transparent, and vetted, I have established a fundraising committee, who will review and approve every dollar given to this campaign past, present, and future.
The work of the people and my commitment to serving with integrity continues.”
Evansville voters deserve better than partisan attacks and political games. They deserve leaders who are focused on solving problems, not creating distractions. Representative Burton has always put his constituents first and will continue to do so.
